Our Venue
The Northern Recorder Course is held at Burton Manor, a grade II listed Arts and Crafts building used as a dedicated residential adult education centre. It is situated on the Wirral, a fifteen minute drive north of Chester, and is well served by public transport. The dimensions and acoustics of the playing rooms are excellent with views over the beautiful grounds. There is a licensed bar, television lounge and a games room. The NRC will have exclusive use of Burton Manor for the duration of the course.
A selection of single, twin and double rooms with en-suite or shared bathroom facilities are available. All bedrooms have wash hand basins and tea and coffee making facilities. Towels are provided. All residential packages are full board and prices vary according to the type of accommodation (see the facilities page). Catering is of a high standard with meals consisting of both continental and cooked breakfast, hot and cold buffet lunch and a four course dinner. Morning coffee and afternoon tea with homemade cakes are provided for all course participants, whether residential or not.
If you feel the need to take a break from making music there are 30 acres of stunning grounds to explore including several formal, geometric gardens. Additionally, Ness Gardens are only a ten minute walk from the Manor. If you are unfamiliar with the area, the Wirral is well worth exploring. The cities of Chester and Liverpool are also close by.
