Our Venue
The Northern Recorder Course is held at Bawtry Hall, a grade II listed
Georgian manor house set in 7 acres of grounds. It is situated within the
chocolate-box English village of Bawtry, just south of Doncaster and is close
to motorway (A1M, A1 & A18), rail (Doncaster) and air transport (Robin Hood
Airport). There is ample free on-site parking. Bawtry Hall is most conveniently
situated just off the High Street which has a plethora of independent shops,
pubs, boutiques and a Co-op.
The playing rooms have high ceilings and generous proportions giving lovely
acoustics for recorder playing. Bawtry Hall has a distinguished history,
including being Bomber Command for the RAF until 1984. The Command Room will be
a unique and atmospheric venue for our larger playing sessions. The NRC will have exclusive use of
Bawtry Hall for the duration of the course.
All residential packages are full board and prices vary according to the type of accommodation (see the facilities page). The accommodation at Bawtry Hall is clean and functional but basic. If you would prefer more facilities such as an en-suite bathroom, a television in your room etc. you are welcome to book into accommodation locally and register at the NRC as a non-resident.
